Welcoming Communities; Winning Communities Video Series

The Citizenship and Immigration Canada funded the CCC-K to create the Welcoming Communities; Winning Communities Video Series. The series will educate and build cultural competency of staff members from volunteer-driven services, healthcare offices/providers, and businesses. In total three videos will be created to cover the following topics:

• Welcoming and Hiring Newcomers in your Business

• Welcoming Newcomers as Volunteers

• Creating Welcoming and Culturally Sensitive Healthcare Services

The video series will address the current beliefs, assumptions, and behaviours, normally present in rural communities, towards newcomers. Each video will provide cultural tips and insights to increase cultural competency within the proposed beneficiaries.

The videos and resource booklets will be available online as download. Hardcopies of the videos and resource booklets will be delivered to 100 communities outside of Chatham-Kent with populations 150,000 or less.
